Abstract:

The step test is one of the various fitness protocol tests for evaluating the indirect oxygen uptake of the general population, as well as among a multitude of sports. Despite being a specialized sporting event that requires an accurate oxygen uptake result with a standard tool, step tests can be used because of their lower cost and good validity. Unfortunately, data related to the “step test” and “predict oxygen” have been studied less. This study aimed to identify and analyze the data network, occurrence, network clustering, and trend topics from the published articles from the SCOPUS database. This study utilized the search terms "step test" and "predict oxygen" to retrieve relevant English publications. The bibliometric tool was conducted under the RStudio software. The result from the database of the “step test” in 6,344 articles with different sources, languages, and source types. Finally, nine data from “step test” and “predict oxygen” in English and published from 1989 to 2017. The co-occurrence in nine documents related to exercise test, female and male, aged, exercise tolerance, pulmonary chronic obstructive, walking, heart rate, oxygen consumption, body weight, body mass, cardiopulmonary exercise test, fatigue, lung function, lung gas exchange, and pulmonary rehabilitation, etc. The network clustering showed 53 entries with two clusters: (1) exercise test, human, aged, exercise tolerance, pulmonary disease chronic obstructive, walking, humans, controlled study, dyspnea, forced expiratory volume, heart rate, oxygen consumption, etc., and (2) age, spirometry, fatigue, human experiment, physiology, prospective studies, reference value, tec. Finally, the trend topics were represented with exercise and controlled study (2003 to 2015), human (2004 to 2017), walking (2005 to 2017), aged adult (2006 to 2017), male and female (2010 to 2017), chronic obstructive (2012 to 2015), exercise test, procedures, and humans (2014 to 2017), respectively. Therefore, this study supports the necessity for additional research on “step test” and “predict oxygen” among humans to predict the reference value of oxygen consumption in the future.
