Parental involvement in children's sports education has evolved significantly, transitioning from basic logistical support to more active roles such as coaching, emotional reinforcement, and financial assistance. This paper analyzes the multifaceted impact of parental involvement on youth sports participation and development, considering cultural, economic, and psychological dimensions. Drawing on global and Indian perspectives—with a particular focus on Kerala—this literature-based study emphasizes the importance of informed and balanced parental engagement. It also explores the negative consequences of over-involvement, lack of awareness, financial barriers, and socio-cultural priorities on children's motivation, performance, and long-term commitment to sports.
