Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of a 4-week customized functional training on the selected physical fitness components of the advanced-level sports climbers. A total of ten advanced-level Sports climbers from Shivdurga Climbing Gym, Lonavala, were purposely selected as the sample of the study. The pre-test and post-test were conducted to assess Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Explosive Strength, Flexibility, Cardiovascular Endurance, and Balance. The customized functional training was implemented over four weeks, with five sessions per week. Paired t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant improvement in Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Explosive Strength, Flexibility, Cardiovascular Endurance, and Balance, among the advanced sports climbers, with the calculated t-value at (p<0.05). The results indicate that muscular strength, muscular endurance, balance, and flexibility were significantly improved, but the training was not found to be significantly effective in enhancing the power and cardiovascular endurance of advanced sport climbers.
