Traditional games and sports are one of the vital components of the indigenous cultural heritage of Northeast India. Among them, the Manipuri community living in Tripura has preserved several traditional games that reflecting on their various socio-cultural activity. However, rapid modernization, changing lifestyles, and declining intergenerational transmission have placed many of these traditional games in an endangered state. The present study aims to highlighting the selected Manipuri traditional games practiced in Tripura, specially emphasizing on Wa-Ton Kanbi and Kang-Thon Sanaba. For this study the researcher used qualitative research approach, primary sources of data through interviews with knowledgeable practitioners and eyewitnesses and as a secondary source of data used books, journal articles, and visual records. The findings reveal that Wa-Ton Kanbi helps to enhance agility, balance, coordination, concentration, and sensory awareness, while Kang-Thon Sanaba reveals a well-structured indigenous sport, that involved skill, and coordination. But now a days, due to lack of practice, resources, lack of awareness, and rapid modernization in the life style both games are rapidly declining. The study highlighting the urgent needs for systematic documentation, educational inclusion, community participation, and institutional support for preserving and reviving these endangered traditional games as living cultural heritage.
